Choosing the right domain name can ensure that your website is a success. However, because of the sheer amounts of domains that are taken, finding a good domain name can be a difficult task.
- Choose a domain name that suits your website.
- Get a .com if possible. Most people associate websites with the .com ending. However, if the core domain extension of .com is unavailable, consider .net or .org. There are many alternative domain name extensions such as .biz and .tv to consider as well.
- Include keywords in your domain name, it will help your search engine rankings. Begin by brainstorming a list of keywords that could be used to identify the type of business that you are registering the domain form. For example, if you sell cars, buycars.com would be an appropriate domain name.
- Choose a simple domain name. Your domain name shouldn't be too long, hard to spell, or include unusual characters. Ideally, it should be around three words long, with no hyphens and shouldn't include any complex words. Using our earlier example, buycars.com is short and memorable. A domain such as jimmys-new-and-used-auto-online.com is much longer and rather difficult to remember.
